This is a powerful article on
the subject of Christmas and American culture. Every year we enter in this
conversation over Christmas and Christian values, Christianity and secularization,
and every year some good soul responds to the call to help us grapple with the
reality that more than Christian values we are concerned with our American
religious experience because, by-in-large, we equate American religious history
